Day 1 – Negombo Beach

Sri Lankan beaches really do not need explanation. Perfect tropical weather, warm, soft sand and the inviting cool waters of the Indian Ocean; this is the perfect combination for relaxation. All you will have to worry about is acquiring your perfect tan and sampling as much seafood as possible!

Day 2 - 4 - Dambulla

Home to the famous Rock Temple, at Dambulla you will be able to explore the famous historic cave complex. It showcases the influence of Buddhism on the country’s art and society, with its cave paintings and statues. If you are up to it you also visit one of Sri Lanka’s oldest forests the Iron Wood Forest. Depending upon when you are visiting, you may be able to witness the bigger known gathering of elephants, at Minneriya. You can also enjoy a day excursion to the Sigiriya Rock Palace, a marvel of Sri Lankan ingenuity.

Day 5 - 6 – Kandy

Kandy is one of the most beautiful cities in Sri Lanka with ‘Kandyans’ having a fierce pride regarding their home city. Surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges Kandy is home to the revered Dalada Maligawa which is home to the sacred Tooth Relic. Kandy is popular for arts and crafts and in August hosts the spectacular Kandy Esala Perehara, which people travel the world over to witness. You can also enjoy a visit to the Peradeniya Botanical gardens and take in a cultural show. En route if you like you can stop at the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage to feed the baby elephants.

Day 7 – Nuwara Eliya

Be amazed at the change in the landscape as the majestic mountains and lush vegetation as you visit Sri Lanka’s hill country. Do the picturesque trek to World’s End in the lush Horton Plains. Get close to a waterfall and feel the cool and pure spray on your face. Visit a working farm and get up close and personal with the cattle! Try your hand at tea plucking!

Day 8 - 9 – Yala

The Yala National Park is probably the best know national park in Sri Lanka owing to its diversity, from thick jungles, to open park areas to rocky areas to amazing sea fronts, not forgetting the wildlife! Be one of the lucky people who see the leopard in its natural habitat. Elephants, wild boar, deer, monkeys and sloth bears also call the Yala National Park home.

Day 10 - 12 – South Beach

A true paradise holiday has beach time and that is what you get. Two blissful days and sun, sand and surf as you are pampered, Sri Lankan style. You can visit a turtle hatchery or visit mangroves. Try your hand at some water sports. Best of all though is the relaxing, sea bathing and seafood sampling. This is what a holiday is about!

Day 13 – Colombo

Colombo is most often used as a centre point between destinations.  With Hayleys Tours you can enjoy this city’s Colonial heritage, sites and of course shopping!
