The general public is requested by the Army Commander Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayke to go back to their normal life and that the tri-forces and the police are dedicated to to ensure their safety through day and night.
At a media briefing at the Ministry of Defense he stated that the Sri Lanka Army, other security forces and the police have implemented strategic plans to ensure the security, after the terror attacks that occurred on April 21 and as of now.
As the government had given all required powers to the security forces under the emergency regulations, the security forces provide necessary security for the locations and places, accordingly, he said.
The Army Commander said that instructions and orders have been given to arrest suspected extremists. “I request the people not to worry and be afraid over rumors and have faith in the security forces and the police,” the Army Commander, Darshana Sanjeewa said.
The government reopened public schools on Monday, 6th May. “We have strengthened security for all schools, we are also conducting a programme to create awareness about safety and security in all schools" the police chief said.
