On arrival at Colombo Airport, you will be met by a representative of Hayleys Tours. You will be transferred to your extravagant motor home, where you will settle in and relax, while we start the exciting road trip by travelling towards the jungles of the Wilpattu National Park. Your overnight stop will be accommodated at a motor home park located close by to the national park.
Today you have the option of embarking on an exciting full day jeep safari or perhaps an early morning safari (6.30am – 9.30am ) or an evening safari (3.00pm – 5.30pm) along with your Guide. Wilpattu National Park is a unique park located on the northeast of the island and it is one of the best destinations for all nature and wildlife lovers. The Willpattu national park holds a largely unspoiled wild for all the traveller to explore about. Wilpattu National Park is home to many villi or natural lakes containing rainwater which pepper the scenery. There is a large number of leopards within the park and it is also believed to have the highest sloth bear population in the country. Wilpattu is mostly made up of rainwater pools with a wide range of colourful aquatic birds.

The next program on the road trip schedule crosses through inland medieval and ancient historic cities. Your first stop is the sacred city of Anuradhapura, which holds the great history of Sri Lanka taking you back to thousands of years. The sacred city of Anuradhapura is dagobas, stupas and statues of Lord Buddha. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Buddhism's religious places.
Late afternoon you may complete a walking or cycling tour of the sacred city of Anuradhapura making a visit to the Sacred Sri Maha Bodhi. The city’s most renowned relic is the 2200-year-old sacred Bo Tree, which is said to have grown from a branch of the tree under which the Buddha gained Enlightenment.

Your next stop is Sigiriya; the heart of the cultural triangle. Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century. Witness the beautiful frescoes and the mirror wall, polished to reflective brilliance, and the remains of beautiful gardens on the top of the citadel.
En route, you have the option of visiting the Cave Temple Complex in Dambulla to explore the paintings that portray the life of Lord Buddha. This is also another UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. Behold the great brushwork from the olden days and the statues of Lord Buddha.
Arrive at the motorhome park in Sigiriya for your overnight stay.
Early morning, visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Your afternoon drive will take you to the medieval city of Polonnaruwa. The remarkable ancient city of Polonnaruwa was the island's medieval capital between the 11th and 13th century. Built alongside a huge man-made lake, owns an outstanding collection of well-preserved remains of palaces, bathing pools, stupas and beautiful rock sculptures of the Buddha. Also, you'll be stopping by the Lankathilaka, Thuparamaya, Royal Palace, Rankoth Vehera and Gal Viharaya - some of the Polonnaruwa ruins.
Escape to your motor-home park in Dambulla for the overnight stay.
Your last stop in the series of historic centres is the last kingdom - Kandy. A great destination holding a great devotion to Buddhism. Wander through a local market in the city experiencing the culture of local vendors and shoppers.
Later in the afternoon, head to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which houses what is believed to be an ancient relic of Lord Buddha, also it is a utopia of artefacts and other amazing arts portraying Buddhism.
Arrive at the motor-home park for the overnight stay
After an early breakfast, today you will travel up those verdant green hills that surround Kandy to explore the extras of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful and magical destinations - the hill country.
During the drive, witness endless views of tea blanketed plains and the vivid flash of females plucking tea leaves dressed in colourful saris. You'll get the opportunity to wheel through breathtaking waterfalls of Ramboda Ella and Garadiya Ella. On the way, drop by a tea factory where the process of tea producing and tea technology will be explained. You will also be able to taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory!
Arrive at the pleasant motorhome park viewing the astonishing Gregory’s Lake.
Today you can start early and visit the Horton Plains National Park with a packed breakfast; roam through the natural landscape of various shades of green, and hike to the World's End and Bakers Falls OR spend the day horse back riding and roaming around the town of Nuwara Eliya.
If you're interested, you can also visit a local dairy farm / strawberry farm.
After breakfast, you will be proceeding to Colombo. You will end your caravan journey in Colombo, the night before your departure. Spend the evening at leisure or explore the city of Colombo for some last minute shopping.
